That's just it. A greeting from me to you this lovely morning at Endlovini! Thankful for the warm sunny days. Thankful for the rain that at times thunders on my tin roof. Thankful for work that gets done. Thankful for friendship offered and received! All is well! Enjoy your day!! Astrid and Khanyisiwe

When the project first moved into the premises, back in 2002, the existing classrooms were painted white with a lower border of brick-brown. A much used combination in official buildings in Zululand, schools, hospitals, etc. A little worse for wear, but basically white and brown. Not so bad for schools maybe, but for pre-schools? We thought not! As time moved on, I became aware of rondavels around the Endlovini area, very nicely decorated. It turned out that a local artist was being hired to do this decorating. A little detective work ensued and voila, we found him. And yes, he was willing to come and take a look. He and his assistant did an excellent job. There, in his most original and unique design, we found it ...OUR LOGO! It is unfortunately a fact that there are many families in our area who struggle to make ends meet. Providing enough nourishing food to keep children growing and healthy is a burden. We know that many children go to school without having had breakfast.
This became an issue since we as a project had as a goal to give children a good start in life. Clean hands and a basic introduction to positive life skills is not enough when the stomach is empty! We became painfully aware that some of our little crechers, when becoming school children, were sorely missing the good meals they had enjoyed the years they were with us. It is a blessing that we are in a position to offer a food programme to these children. We hired Margaret who comes to Endlovini to prepare meals for the children - after our creche cooks are done for the day. Three days a week, 25-30 school children come to enjoy something nourishing before heading home: fruit, eggs, soup, cheese, tea, yoghurt ... The children and others come from a wide range of homes in our area, even though we recognize some as "our children" and children of our staff. Our Home Based Carers are to be on the look out for young ones to be referred to this programme. I am delighted with the feedback and the likes our NEWS postings have received! THANK YOU! Remember to go in and browse every Monday to catch up on the latest - and share if possible! What we have for you today is a special little decoration for Easter. I have made the patchwork for the little baskets, here in Norway, but the ladies have handsewn and assembled at Endlovini. The baskets measure approx. 11 cm and the price is NOK 35 each. We have also made a little gift package in cellofane with yellow bow, three baskets for NOK 100 -ideal as a little hostess gift for Easter! We also have tea cozies, for Easter AND for summer! These are priced at NOK 150. They are approx 27 high by 33 width across bottom, and are covered with glass beads.
