Gloria Thabethe has been with the project twelve years. She is the one with the most of formal schooling and was quickly given the responsibility as Creche supervisor. She has for several years now been taking one subject a year, on Saturdays, with the aim of finally completing grade twelve. She is wife number two to her husband and has as such had a hard life. She has given birth to four children and has, miraculously, managed to put two of them through college, the last born now struggling with his final year at high school. Gloria is an extremely hard worker often being the one to stay behind to check her reporting one more time, and has in so many ways been a blessing to Endlovini! The Department of Social Development has decided that all creche teachers HAVE to have Level V in pre-school training, otherwise the threat of losing your job. This means having to travel to far-away Esikhaweni, every Saturday through a year. The course comes at a price of ZAR 660 pr.mth. plus transportation. Gloria could most certainly not afford it, and the project saw no means on this year's budget! An unexpected gift from one of our supporters came as a gift from heaven and Gloria will attend!

We have received an order - from the U S A no less! A dear lady named Kenda visited Endlovini many years back. We have recently been in email contact again and this contact lead to one thing and another, and, an order of Prayer Labyrinths for when the Evangelical Lutheran Church America women will have their Triennial Gathering. (60) no less! I am so excited and grateful - and so are the ladies! I am almost at the point of packing my bags for the journey home, leaving the ladies again without work. But now ... fabric has been purchased, a sample labyrinth has been made and the ladies are eager to start. Photos will follow. If you would like to check out how these labyrinths work, you will find info by clicking into welcatg.org |
